Today I am working on my store route for next week. I want to visit three or four stores each day. Hopefully I can flood you with pictures and stories of thrifty finds. If you have a favorite store you would like me to visit, leave me a comment or email me at [email protected]

Hi, Kathy. My favorites are
Halley's Antiques Mall in Maitland
and "Gotta Have It" mall in
Casselberry. Both have great owners
and good things. They are not
"thrift" shops, so to speak, but I
go to them for special items I can't find thrifting.

One you might not know about is the
Orlando Union Rescue Mission Thrift
Store on the corner of WEstmoreland
and Central, across from the Health Department near downtown. I found
a car full of things there last week,
but it is "hit and miss". It is a
"real" thrift shop, kinda junkie,
but I found my best piece in there a
few months ago...a faux fireplace complete with electric logs for $35. Of
course I had to paint it, but it is
a real old piece and beautiful. When I
get my camera, they will ship it on
Monday, I will send you a picture of
the fireplace. Oh, and just this week
I bought a vintage fur cape for
$7.95 in the Mission store..what a steal...my husband has worked for the Mission for over 25 years. He is the staff Pastor and also has a drug/alcohol recovery program there at the Mission.

Thank you Betty,I will have a look at all those stores. I am compiling a list of stores, I will start hitting them this Tuesday. So expect lots of pictures. What a great deal on the fireplace. I have seen them in the department stores and they are hundreds of dollars. We were actually thinking of getting one for our family room..but we thought we would wait until the end of the season to get a deal.. I can't wait for the pictures, I am very excited.
