I had an appointment this morning in downtown Orlando. Perfect opportunity to fit a little thrifting in my day. First stop was theCommunity Food & Outreach Center. I was pleasantly surprised today at my visit. This store is showing great improvement from my last visit. Today I found it to be clean and neatly organized. The store has been stocked with both new and used items. A large selection of school supplies, such as paper, pens, high end calculators, clothes, shoes, some furniture and household supplies were available at affordable prices. Community Food & Outreach Center 150 W. Michigan St. Orlando, Fl 32806 Open 9am-6pm M-Sat. All money raised here, helps supplement this crisis' center outreach programs. My next stop was the Salvation Army Thrift Store, on Colonial Drive. Today I was excited to find some wonderful little dessert glasses. They were vintage, with etchings in different designs, too cute!!! Definitely not a matching set, but probably someones collection.
I loved them, but no price...ugh I hate that. I asked an employee, who was so helpful to try and find a price for me. But to no avail... we were told by the assistant manager, that if they are not individually priced then they come from a set. So I have to look for the remainder of the set to find a price??? Well two employees and I looked for the remainder of the set that did not exist. So, no pretty little dessert glasses for me today ... Salvation Army Thrift Store, had an unhappy customer today...hope they work on this policy. They have some great items sitting on their shelves that couldn't be bought :(

Travel along Orange Avenue in Orlando and you are certain to find something special. I posted last week about my visit to Art Angels Arts & Antique Mall, they are located on the south end of Orange Avenue. After leaving I headed back north on Orange to find a couple more stores. First a huge thrift store called, Community Thrift Store located at 5456 South Orange Avenue. I stopped in here. They had a huge selection of clothing. This store reminded me of the salvation army. It's not a pretty, pretty store but worth the stop. My next stop would be the Bargain House, located at 3301 S. Orange Ave. You can't miss this one. A bright little yellow house, packed full of antique furniture. The owner Jim was very nice and let me take some pictures. His store is packed from floor to ceiling with furniture. There is also a garage in the back that is overflowing with antiques. I didn't go all through the garage....that will be on my next visit :-) The piece below just arrived and was priced to sell. It is gorgeous with such detail. Love it! After leaving The Bargain House. I drove for a while to the North end of Orange Ave. I came across Something Different, located at 1618 N. Orange Ave. This was such a fun store offering midcentury to modern furniture. So many things here from 1960's and 70's. The colors are fantastic. As soon as walked in, it was a flash back to my childhood.....(oops showing my age now) Well have a look! There are many more stores along Orange Avenue that I didn't get to on this day. The rain was moving in fast on me which rushed my visits. I can't wait to go back and see what I find! If you need directions to any of these stores click on my Store Directory.
I would like to welcome a new store to Thrift Happy..... Art Angels Arts & Antique Market, located at 5515 S. Orange Ave, Orlando 32809. I know you are going to love this store..... After being in business for over 15 years in Orlando, Art Angels Arts and Antique Market has moved to a new location to expand their business. Their larger store now offers a florist, gifts, collectibles and over 35 antique vendors. You will find a selection of both new and used items. Have a look at my most recent visit...... This small sofa was my favorite thing in the store. It would look wonderful in my house. I may be going back soon to bring this one home. This vendor had a great collection of vintage decor. The yellow is so vivid. This vintage bar ware would make a nice gift for someone. This desk and chair is so shabby chic. I just love them....and look at this bed another vendor is selling . They would look great together. Every corner you turn something else to catch your eye. This dresser is such a beautiful piece. Sitting on top is collection of decanters. The suitcases below are great to use for storage. Stack a few on top of each other to make an end table. It's a fun look...especially in a guest room This 1950's desk is just $60 ....what a great deal...look at the detail. These two pictures are Chinese Paper Cuttings. They are unbelievable.... I hope you all will visit Art Angels Arts & Antique Market soon. If you see something you like here don't hesitate. The owner told me the merchandise moves fast....but not to fear she goes on monthly buying trips out of state. So you are sure to find something wonderful when you visit. Remember if you need flowers, they have a floral designer on staff. She makes gift baskets and beautiful flower arrangements. Stop by soon and tell them you saw their store on Thrift Happy.
Yesterday I decided I would visit College Park. I love this area it has the look of a small town with a urban feel. I knew I would find something special. The first stop would be Dechoes at 2110 Edgewater Drive. With the teenagers in tow I was somewhat less than excited. My daughter is not a fan of the resale shops. So I was anticipating a not so pleasant experience. You know, long face, arms crossed, thinking she will die if someone sees her in a thrift store....... I took a deep breath and entered the store. A young man welcomed us in, music was playing, chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I turned to look.....what did I see...my daughter....what's that on her face? Is that a smile? I thought I saw a twinkle in her eye......is it possible....after all these years? Yay!!!! DECHOES did it! SHE'S FINALLY BEEN HIT......SHE'S THRIFT HAPPY!!!!! Thank you, Thank you Great use of the wall here...I just loved it. On the first Wednesday of the month, they have music, free wine and lite bites. They call it "Wine Not Wednesday", great idea! Love these JIMMY CHOO heels. How about LOUIS VUITTON for $29.99. Prada Purses. Vintage items too! I think all generations will love this store. It has so much to offer from the latest styles, fashion accessories, vintage clothes, or funky retro home decor. Something for everyone here. Grab grandma, the teens or a best friend and head to Dechoes for a great shopping experience.
