Well like most of the country we are having some bad weather. It's rainy and cold here in Thrift Happy Land. Needless to say I didn't want to venture out of the house. So I pondered what could I do. I decided to search the house and photograph some of my favorite thrifty finds. It's funny I'm not really a jewelry person. But I went to a yard sale and I bought a huge amount of jewelry. Each one only cost me a dollar or two. When I bought them I thought I would list them on Ebay. Thing is I can't to seem to part with them. I just love this little green dish. I keep this on my dresser and fill it with my jewelry. I bought the fancy pill box at Preloved Affordables Ofcourse I had to have this table. Especially at $10, the top is inlaid with different woods. The top opens, it has compartments, but best of all it is a music box. This colorful picture was another $10 find. I've had it for two years and have yet to find a place to hang it. This rocker/glider was just $3. It was missing the seat. So I had my husband cut a piece of plywood. I covered with foam and fabric. It's not the most beautiful, but I love it. Well you've seen my thrifty finds. Now I would love to see yours.
Email them to me at EMAIL@THRIFTHAPPY.COM Scroll down and take the survey. What's your favorite thing to buy at a thrift store. So far furniture and household items in the lead......
I went to Minneola today, to the store called The Hen's Nest. This store was great. Unfortunately the owner was not there to let me take pictures. This store is so worth the drive. There is so much to see. I've left a message for the owner, so I will post pictures as soon as possible. If you love vintage linens, don't miss this one, they have a great selection.
I hit the road with Mama today. We plugged in the GPS and headed to Clermont. Our first stop would be Encore, a women's clothing store. The store had a huge inventory of brand name shoes, purses and clothes. If you love Coach purses and wallets, you have to stop by here. They had a rack devoted to these...what a nice Valentine gift...hint hint. If you appreciate named brand clothing and accessories at an affordable price then this is the store for you. Next we went to Paper Dolls Retro Fashion, a bright, fun and unique store. Located in historic downtown Clermont. The store offers a large selection of fashion items for the whole family. The owner Anne, is full of energy and ideas on going green. She has come up with some clever ways of recycling. Her store also hosts private parties. What a wonderful idea! Back in the car and just a few streets over we arrive at The Vintage View, on Montrose Street. There is so much to see here. This one is a little bit of thifting heaven.... I loved this black cat! I really enjoyed this store. I know I will be coming back, there is so much more to see.
Afterwards we left and headed to a few more stores. So stay tuned for more pictures. Clermont was worth the trip, there were many stores in the area that I didn't even get to...but I will be back. Today I will be in Clermont. I hope it is a Thrift Happy Day....wish me good luck!
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY, I NEED A THRIFTY DAY!
Well rain or not I'm headed out tomorrow. I think I will head to the Clermont area. I have googled and found several stores I want to have a look at. There is one that is called Paper Dolls Retro Thrift. I am very excited to see what that is all about. I also will stop by Vintage View, and Angel's Thrift Shop. Stay tuned to see what I find. Saturday's Sidewalk Sale at "NOT SO SHABBY", in Ocoee, on Maquire Rd next to Publix..... I arrived early and the store was already so busy. The wind was crazy this morning but that didn't slow any shoppers down. There were tables set up in front of the store. As I entered I saw this nice shadow box. Right inside the store was this bouquet of metal flowers. Then I saw this...and ofcourse it has to be my favorite:) There was also some great items out the backdoor. I love the bed! Speaking of bed don't forget the BEDROOM CHALLENGE. '"NOT SO SHABBY" is such a great store. I hope some of you made it out today or plan to in the future. The store always has a large selection of items. You are sure to find something special.
Today I am working on my store route for next week. I want to visit three or four stores each day. Hopefully I can flood you with pictures and stories of thrifty finds. If you have a favorite store you would like me to visit, leave me a comment or email me at email@thrifthappy.com
I had a few more items to show you from thrifting this week. I loved this small bouquet of purple flowers in a silver basket, located at Not So Shabby. At only $4 what a great buy. A lovely gift to brighten someone's day! Fiestaware and Artwork at Preloved Affordables.
